Although we hope this site will be useful to anybody who checks it out, it was created with Christian Geeks in mind.

The Bible teaches that money is meant to be used for fun (Ecclesiastes 5:18-19) in addition to other things, but it can’t truly satisfy us (Ecclesiastes 5:10) and so should be put to good use in service to God and others (Matthew 13:44, 25:14, 1 Timothy 6:17-18) rather than primarily on ourselves. We’re also instructed to stay out of debt, so that the only person we are subjected to is God. (Romans 13:8, Proverbs 22:7, 1 Corinthians 7:23) 

As a hardcore geek, this is challenging teaching! Most geek hobbies involve repeated investment and sometimes cost a lot! All the cool stuff marketed to us nerds usually comes with a price tag. So it can be easy to go beyond the enjoyment we’re meant to have into the realm of obsession and financial waste. I’ve experienced this first hand. So with the help of listeners from The Spirit Blade Underground Podcast, and readers like you, I’ve created an annual summer event called “The Summer Of Free”, in which I showcase free entertainment options geared toward geeks that are available for free to anyone with an internet connection.

Hosted on this blog is an archive collecting and categorizing a bunch of free stuff you can find or do online to scratch that nerdy itch without spending ANY MONEY! Each summer this archive will continue to grow and will remain available all year round. So WHENEVER you need a free fix of nerdy goodness, The Summer Of Free is the place to be!
